  • Cinecon 45 Schedule - oh boy!!
    So what's caught my eye - He Fell in Love With His Wife (1916), Larry Semon in Spuds (1927), De Luxe Annie (1918) starring Norma Talmadge, Paid to Love (1927), starring George O'Brien (oh yes!), Turn to the Right (1922), directed by Rex Ingram, Broadway Love (1918) starring Lon Chaney, Trial Marriage (1929) with Norman Kerry and Thelma Todd, Afraid to Talk (1932) starring Sidney Fox, Easy Living (1937) starring Jean Arthur and Ray Milland (I love them both), and YES, for us Mary Pickford fans The Dawn of a Tomorrow (1915) - just to name a few. There are lots of other silents, as well as pre-code and talkies from the 30s and 40s to be seen.

  • Some Cinecon 45 films announced - Cinecon 45 Classic Film Festival is being held September 3 to September 7, 2009, screenings at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood, California.

  • DVD Release on September 1, 2009 - Kino 3-disc box set with 75 films - - Gaumont Treasures: 1897-1913 (I am totally looking forward to this release!!)

  • 4th Annual Mid-Atlantic Nostalgia Convention - August 27 to 29, 2009 at the Clarion Hotel, Aberdeen, Maryland (and early bird screenings on the 26th). There is a schedule of events up. (The screening of The Bad Seed, with guest star Patty McCormack is what caught my eye - one of my fave films growing up, in pre-movie buff days - I've seen that movie SO many times, but only on a TV screen!).

  • 2009 San Francisco Silent Film Festival lineup announced - held at the Castro Theater on July 10-12 - lots of goodies (I would love to see The Wind on the big screen!)

  • DVD Release on July 7, 2009 - The Lost Films of John Gilbert set Bardelys the Magnificent (1926) and Monte Cristo (1922) from Flicker Alley

  • DVD Release on July 7, 2009 - The John Barrymore Collection includes Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1920), Sherlock Holmes (1920), Beloved Rogue (1927), and Tempest (1928) from Kino

  • DVD Release on June 23, 2009 - Rex the Wonder Horse movies (Televista): The King of the Wild Horses (1924) and Black Cyclone (1925) Double Feature
